PARISH WEEKEND TO FOCUS ON CREATION  SEPTEMBER 19 - 21, CAMP MIKELL, TOCCOA
Planning for St Bartholomew's annual parish weekend is well underway.  As usual it will be a great time of rest, community, fun and spiritual growth.  The planning group hopes that you will put the weekend on your calendars, particularly you new members, and those single people who tend to think this is not for them.  We are committed to ensuring that anyone who wants to come, should. Speak with Beverley if finances might keep you away.  Especially we know it can get expensive once you add a child or two.

The focus of the weekend is looking at God through creation.  We will do this through exploring Celtic spirituality and theology, as well as through participating in age appropriate interpretive walks with Camp Mikell outdoor staff.  The weekend starts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night and ends after lunch on Sunday. The whole of the Saturday afternoon is set aside for doing what ever you want...reading sleeping, playing ball.  The cost ranges according to the type of accommodation you stay in, that is $80-$140 per adult for the weekend.  Children 0-3 are free and those aged 4-12 are half the adult rate. Registration forms will be available in early August.

A New Ministry of Care and Healing ANNOUNCED
Under the umbrella of Pastoral Care ministries, a new ministry has been created to serve service men and women and their families. This is an issue beyond the political that affects all of us, whether in or out of the military. Men and women in the military and their families experience unusual stresses and so need our help and support as caring Christians, regardless of our political point of view.

The new Peace & Military Ministry’s work is to pray for peace and to aid soldiers and their loved ones. The general planning committee met on August 27 at 6:00 p.m. The Peace Prayer program will offer an information and planning session at two times: Wednesday, September 3 at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m. Please join us in starting the work of praying for peace and caring for soldiers and their loved ones on duty and at home. Contacts are Anne Mee and Lee Thompson. You might want to visit www.ecusa-chaplain.org/HOST_program_new.html for ideas and info.
