Flower Guild

•  Making Donations for Altar Flowers and the Aumbry Candle

The Flower Guild consists of 18 Members. We are blest to have a group that is not only harmonious, but whose members are also creative and talented. The Co-Chairs who report to the Rector, attend monthly Worship Committee Meetings where advice and instructions are shared.

Members of the Flower Guild prepare flowers in the church and chapel every week. Additionally, flowers for services such as marriages and memorial services are the responsibility of the Flower Guild. Members have also assisted Parish Life by arranging flowers in the Parish Hall for special occasions, and have assisted the Coordinator of Funerals by arranging flowers for receptions held after the memorial services.  Each Wednesday morning flowers are arranged in the Chapel for the noontime healing service by Margaret (Peg) Herrman. Her faithful ministry is deeply appreciated each Sunday flowers from the altar arrangement are sent to the sick or those in special need.

A number of indoor plants have been donated to St. Bartholomew’s over the years and Margaret Manoharan faithfully assumes the responsibility of caring for them. Many of the plants spend the warm summer months in the Austin Ford Garden where they flourish. As the colder weather approaches they are brought inside and kept in the Church, Chapel, Parish and Warden’s Halls, corridors and both Inner and Outer Narthex. Members of St, Bartholomew’s have commented that the plants soften the interiors and make the buildings feel more welcoming and homely.

New members are needed. Please contact Eleanor Buckholdt for more information of if you are interested in joining the guild.

Donations for Altar Flowers and Aumbry Candle

We invite you to donate to St. Bartholomew's Flower Guild Fund, which provides beautiful fresh flowers for the Sunday services and keeps the Aumbry Candle burning above the Reserved Sacrament in the Shalom Chapel. Perhaps you want to make a donation in memory of someone, or in thanksgiving?

In order to make a dedication for Sanctuary flowers or for the Aumbry Candle, please print out and complete this form and either mail it with your donation to the parish office, place it in the offering during any worship service, or drop it off in the church office. If you would like a dedication to be included in the service bulletin, make sure that you fill out that part of the form. You can request a particular Sunday to have the dedication appear in the service bulletin, but remember that we don’t have altar flowers during Advent or Lent.

Please mark your donation by check, with “Flower Guild Fund” on the memo line.

After the service, flowers are often delivered to members of our community by the Pastoral Care Ministry as symbols of our care and concern.
