Evangelism
St.
Bartholomew’s strives to reach out to the community with radical
hospitality, especially to people who, due to race, ethnicity,
disability, sexual orientation or other reasons, have felt
unwelcomed or alienated by the church. We endeavor, through
advertising, letters to people moving into the community, the
World Wide Web – and most importantly, through individual
members’ hospitality – to send forth our message of
inclusivity in Christ at St. Bartholomew’s. On the front lines
in this effort are the clergy and the Shepherd’s Staff, a group
of greeters who not only welcome visitors but also follow up with
a telephone call. In addition, all parishioners are being
encouraged to invite friends to church as well as to introduce
themselves to anyone at church who they don’t know, helping to
welcome newcomers into the life of the parish. Newcomer
orientation classes are held throughout the year, as are
receptions designed to bring newcomers and parishioners together
socially. For more information or to assist with these
ministries please contact
