Hospitality, Contemplative Life and Anglican Studies
Overseen by a group of contemplative parishioners from St.
Bartholomew’s, Amerson House seeks to serve the parish and the
wider community as well. Group and individual retreat days are
offered, as well as programming focused on contemplative living.
Meeting space and overnight retreat space is available by
inquiry. Located at the back of St. Bartholomew’s property,
Amerson House offers the following programs:

Into Great Silence
Saturday October 18, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
David Rensberger,
contemplative, writer, retreat leader and recently retired
professor of New Testament, will lead the day. The morning will
entail exploration of the nature and place of silence, including
a period of silent prayer. The afternoon will involve a showing
of the documentary “Into Great Silence”, followed by discussion.
The mostly silent but visually stunning film follows the life of
the Carthusian monks of the Grande Chartreuse monastery in
France. Cost $35. Register through the main church office. Bring
your own lunch.

An Introduction to Embodied
Contemplation
Saturday November 8, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Debra Weir,
spiritual director, dancer and teacher will lead the day. Debra
is especially interested in improvisational performance. The
retreat will be an introduction to contemplative practices that
connect body, mind and spirit, namely movement and story
telling. Expressiveness and improvisation will thread through a
day that is designed for all. Cost $35. Bring your own lunch and
dress comfortably. Register through the main church offices.

Advent Quiet Day
Saturday December 6, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
This annual
retreat day will include prayer, guided reflection, silence, and
rest. The theme and retreat conductor will
be named closer to the date. Cost $35. Lunch provided.

BENEDICTINE
SPIRITUALITY GROUP
1st Saturdays, 10:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m.

For all those in the parish and beyond who want to explore
Benedictine spirituality, or who are currently living under the
Rule of Benedict. Each month the program includes prayer, study
of the Rule of Benedict and Benedictine spirituality,
instruction and practice of Lectio Divina and an introduction to
Benedictine authors of note. Paul is the rector of St. Michael
